Antonio López de Santa Anna, also known as Santa Anna or López de Santa. He served as a general and the governor of Mexico numerous times in his career. During the early 1830's, Santa Anna fought against Spain from reconquering Mexico, and he become known as the Hero of Tampico. This helped him in becoming president. During the Battle of the Alamo, Santa Anna and his forces defeated the Americans. Soon after the Americans came back and Santa Anna was captured and defeated by Sam Houston and was forced to surrender. He retired after the events.
